Abstract

The rheology of solder paste significantly affects the qualities of stencil printing, tack and slump performance. This paper describes a series of tests performed on solder paste to investigate and determine the rheological properties of a group of solder pastes and fluxes, and the correlation of those properties with paste performance prior to reflow. Data indicate that: the incidence of print defects are proportional to the material’s compliant qualities (J1 and J2) and are inversely proportional to the elastic properties (G¢/G¢¢ and recovery) and meta‐rigidity (yield stress); slump resistance is proportional to elastic properties (recovery), solid characteristics (stress [G¢ = G¢¢]), and rigidity (|G*|); and that high elastic properties (recovery), low compliance (J1 and J2), and low solid characteristics (stress [G¢ = G¢¢]) are required in order to achieve high tack value. Good correlation between fluxes and solder pastes were observed for yield stress and recovery only, suggesting that those two properties are primarily dictated by fluxes.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper used for catastrophe and pandemic preparedness was the craft of machine learning calculations. ML is the latest globe learning technique to assist in the identification and remediation of medical care catastrophes.

Design/methodology/approach

To the greatest extent possible, countries are terrified about debacles and pandemics, which, all in all, are exceptionally improbable occurrences. When health emergencies arise on the board, several issues arise for the medical team because of the lack of accurate information from numerous diverse sources, which is required to be available by suitable professionals.

Findings

Thus, the current investigation’s main objective is to demonstrate a structure that is dependent on the incorporation of recent advances, the Internet of Things and large information and which can settle this issue by using machine learning (ML) in all stages of catastrophe and providing accurate and compelling medical care.

Originality/value

The system upholds medical services characters by empowering information to be divided between them, enabling them to perform insightful estimations and enabling them to find significant, legitimate and precise patterns that are required for functional arrangement and better readiness in the event of crises. It is possible that the results of the system’s work may be used by the executives to assist chiefs in differentiating and forecasting the wellbeing repercussions of the fumbles.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to propose a single element, dual feed, polarisation diversity antenna. The proposed antenna operates from 2.9 to 10.6 GHz for covering the entire ultra-wideband (UWB) frequency range. The antenna is designed for usage in massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and closed packaging applications.

Design/methodology/approach

The size of the antenna is 24 × 24 × 1.6 mm3. The radiating element of the antenna is derived from the Sierpinski–Knopp (SK) fractal geometry for miniaturization of the antenna size. The antenna has a single reflecting stub placed between the two orthogonal feeds, to improve isolation.

Findings

The proposed antenna system exhibits S11 < −10 dB, S21 < −15 dB and stable radiation characteristics in the entire operating region. It also offers an envelope correlation coefficient < 0.01, a diversity gain > 9.9 dB and a capacity loss < 0.4 bps/Hz. The simulated and measured outputs were compared and results were found to be in similarity.

Originality/value

The proposed UWB-MIMO antenna has significant size reduction through usage of SK fractal geometry for radiating element. The antenna uses a single radiating element with dual feed. The stub is between the antenna elements which provide a compact and miniaturized MIMO solution for high density packaging applications. The UWB-MIMO antenna provides an isolation better than −20 dB in the entire UWB operating band.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to propose a two-element dual fed ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna system with no additional decoupling structures. The antenna operates from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. The antenna finds its usage in on-body wearable device applications.

Design/methodology/approach

The antenna system measures 63.80 × 29.80 × 0.7 mm. The antenna radiating element is designed by using a modified dumbbell-shaped structure. Jean cloth material is used as substrate. The isolation improvement is achieved through spacing between two elements.

Findings

The proposed antenna has a very low mutual coupling of S21 < −20 dB and impedance matching of S11 < −10 dB. The radiation characteristics are stable in the antenna operating region. It provides as ECC < 0.01, diversity gain >9.9 dB. The antenna offers low average specific absorption rate (SAR) of 0.169 W/kg. The simulated and measured results are found to be in reasonable match.

Originality/value

The MIMO antenna is proposed for on-body communication, hence, a very thin jean cloth material is used as substrate. This negates the necessity of additional material usage in antenna design and the result range indicates good diversity performance and with a low SAR of 0.169 W/kg for on-body performance. This makes it a suitable candidate for textile antenna application.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to benchmarking the governance performance of Indian states.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper provides a framework to measure governance performance at the state level. Using the data on 28 key indicators, the authors evaluate Indian states on seven broad dimensions of governance quality covering several aspects of public service delivery, regulatory quality and law and order. The empirical methodology involves the application of multi-criteria decision making techniques in two steps. The authors, first develop suitable weights of the identified dimensions and criteria under each dimension by applying the inputs of an expert-based decision-panel in a best-worst framework. Next, using these weights, the authors evaluate ranking of each state using TOPSIS and PROMETHEE-II methods.

Findings

The results indicate wide disparities in the governance performance of Indian states. Based on different indicators, the paper evaluates the rank of all the major Indian states. Results reveal that “Social Service Delivery(S)” is the most influencing dimension for the development of a state. Overall, the authors find Andra Pradesh, NCT of Delhi and Goa to be the leading states in terms of governance quality.

Research limitations/implications

The paper provides policy makers with easy to use operational indicators to analyse the governance performance of Indian states. These would help in better monitoring of these states through competitive goal-setting for continuous improvement.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first formal assessment of governance quality in the Indian states in a multi-criteria framework. To this end, the paper addresses the issue of wide regional disparities in the country. The findings of the paper provide powerful insights to policy makers in setting up appropriate strategies to eliminate these disparities.

Abstract

Purpose

This present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different cooking methods on quality characteristics of turkey meat cutlets, i.e. turkey meat cutlets prepared by deep frying (DF), turkey meat cutlets prepared by shallow frying (SF), turkey meat cutlets prepared by microwave cooking at 740 MHz for 20 min (MW) and turkey meat cutlets prepared by microwave cooking at 740 MHz for 10 min followed by shallow frying (MS).

Design/methodology/approach

Several preliminary trials were conducted to optimise the formulation, and finally, turkey meat cutlets were prepared, as per the method followed by Singh et al. (2015). These standardised turkey meat cutlets were cooked with four different cooking methods. The best formulation and optimum cooking method were selected on the basis of physicochemical properties and sensory evaluation.

Findings

pH and moisture content of MW were significantly (P < 0.03) higher than DF, SF and MS; however, cooking yield and water activity values of MW and MS were significantly (P < 0.05) higher. DF had significantly (P < 0.02) higher fat content than SF > MS > MW. The values of textural parameters were significantly (P < 0.01) higher in DF, whereas lightness values of MW and redness values of DF were significantly (P < 0.02) higher. Scores of various sensory attributes, including overall acceptability, were significantly (P < 0.03) higher in MS. Therefore, MS – turkey meat cutlets prepared by microwave cooking at 740 MHz for 10 min followed by shallow frying were found optimum.

Originality/value

Cooking methods vary according to the choice and flavour of the consumer. Meat products, especially cutlets, can be cooked with many cooking methods, but it is always good to choose the one method which contains less fat per cent as per the requirement of present-day health-conscious consumer and also retains and add on to the taste of the product. Hence, microwave cooking followed by shallow frying was found as such a cooking method that has the characteristics of both, i.e. less fat content and also is tasty to the tongue.

Abstract

Purpose

As the level of implementation of Industry 4.0 increases, misalignments between adopted technologies and organizational factors may result in benefits below expected. This paper aims to analyze how organizational factors can contribute to a higher level of adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. The paper uses a sociotechnical perspective lens to achieve this aim.

Design/methodology/approach

Using a sample of 231 manufacturing companies in Denmark, a leading country in Industry 4.0 readiness, the paper analyzes through cluster analysis and logistic regression whether the development of four sociotechnical dimensions – that is, Social, Technical, Work Organization and Environmental factors – in these companies can benefit the achievement of higher levels of Industry 4.0 technology adoption.

Findings

The results show that companies focused on the development of sociotechnical aspects generally present higher Industry 4.0 adoption levels. However, some sociotechnical factors are less supportive than others.

Originality/value

Based on these results, practitioners can plan the adoption of advanced technologies, using a systemic organizational view. This study provides evidence on a growing field with few empirical studies available. The paper contributes by providing an analysis of a leading country in Industry 4.0 implementation, presenting a systemic view on technology adoption in the Industry 4.0 context.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to assess equity investors satisfaction with stockbroker services. Four components emerged from a factor analysis of 14 variables of retail equity investors’ satisfaction with stockbroker services. According to the findings, these elements have a substantial impact on investors’ trust and confidence in stockbrokers.

Design/methodology/approach

By physically visiting stockbrokers’ offices in Punjab, including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali, 1,000 questionnaires were distributed to retail equities investors. Stockbrokers were chosen using a simple random selection process due to their large number. Questionnaires were filled out by personally visiting stockbrokers’ offices and handing over surveys, instructing them to fill them out with information from their clients and personally visiting stockbrokers’ offices and instructing their clients to complete the questionnaires. The respondents completed 373 surveys. A total of 45 surveys were determined to be incomplete and were removed from the study. The remaining 328 surveys were used to conduct the analysis. The study uses ordinal regression to assess investors’ trust and confidence in stockbrokers’ services.

Findings

The findings of the study highlighted the importance of variables evaluated by respondents when seeking stockbroker services. These criteria included the accuracy of stockbrokers’ information, the speed with which accounts are settled and the brokers’ willingness to give valuable service to investors. These 14 variables, which measure investor satisfaction with stockbroker services, were subjected to factor analysis. With the use of component analysis, four factors were identified: satisfaction with stockbroker services, stockbroker regulations, stockbroker transactional services and stockbrokers’ image in the eyes of investors, which explained 72.55% of the variation in the data. With the use of ordinal regression analysis, it was discovered that these four criteria have a considerable impact on investors’ trust and confidence in stockbrokers.

Research limitations/implications

The current study, which is being conducted at the state level, might be expanded to include the entire country. It might be possible to look into the impact of retail capital market investment on rural investors. The research might be expanded to include a look at how reforms affect the functioning of stock markets. A study on the awareness of retail investment trends among women investors could be conducted. It is possible to investigate the ramifications of internet stock trading in India. It is possible to investigate the impact of technical innovation on capital markets. In this study, a survey has been conducted, in the future, the behavior of the investors can be observed to analyze whether they are satisfied with the services of stockbrokers or not.

Practical implications

This research would be extremely beneficial to investors who make investment decisions and employ stockbrokers to help them make those selections. Because with the aid of the factors revealed investors can match the service quality of their own intermediary and only if they will be satisfied they will trust their intermediary.

Social implications

This research will aid stockbrokers in providing investors with efficient and effective services. As they will have knowledge about the needs and aspirations of their clients, they will try to render their services as per their expectations. This will ultimately lead to the satisfaction of the retail equity investors, and they will have trust and confidence in the services provided by the stockbrokers. The present study helps the stockbrokers in understanding the fact that the qualitative aspects of their services are crucial for building investors’ trust and confidence otherwise investors will not be satisfied with their services. This study is extremely important for government as well. They can also take cues from witnessed the positive impact of their regulations on the quality of the stockbrokers’ services. This improvement in the quality of stockbroker services has further enhanced the trust and confidence of investors. Regulations are essential for improving the quality of stockbrokers’ services.

Originality/value

This paper reveals that a variety of factors, i.e. satisfaction with stockbroker services, stockbroker regulations, stockbroker transactional services and stockbrokers’ image in the eyes of investors influence retail equities investors’ trust and faith in brokerage services.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of service quality, perceived usefulness and users’ cognitive satisfaction to determine the third-generation (3G) mobile phone users’ behavioural retention in using 3G telecommunications services.

Design/methodology/approach

A total of 243 valid questionnaires were collected from 3G users in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. The combination of partial least squares (PLS) path modelling approach and structural equation modelling (SEM; PLS-SEM) technique was used to analyze the measurement and structural model.

Findings

Our empirical assessment supports the proposed research hypotheses and further suggests that service quality is a second-order reflective construct comprising navigation and visual design, management and customer service and system reliability and connection quality.

Originality/value

Prior studies have examined the impact of service quality, perceived usefulness, overall users’ satisfaction and behavioural intention on an information system in general. This study is among the few studies that have attempted to gain insights into 3G users’ post-adoption experience with telecommunications services.
